Aim of this project was to interact, provide entertainment and companionship to the residents living in rental flats at Buangkok Green. Most of the residents are elderly and wheelchair bound. Students have planned and carried out the activities to interact with the elderly and children over at the residential area. Activities carried out include teaching on how to fold paper origami, colouring, magic show and teaching basic Taekwondo moves.
Here are some of the photos taken during the sessions:
Some reflections from the students:
"I find this VIA very interesting as we can teach the children and elderly to fold different kinds of origami. The wheelchair-bound elderly seemed like they lived alone or they spend most of their time alone at home. These elderly needs help in moving around and thus, we should be around to help them. This VIA gives us the opportunities to interact and keep them company although we cannot be by their side daily." ~Andrea
"The VIA was so exciting! I really had a lot of fun interacting with the children and elderly. I realised the children love colouring and we had a mini drawing competition. I feel very proud of my team. Looking at them having fun and interacting with the children and elderly makes me happy." ~Maryam
"Through this session, I learnt to be patient. I want to come back for more sessions if I can as it was really fun bonding with the elderly and children. I really want to keep doing this VIA until I graduate. I hope everyone there has as much fun as I did." ~Yu Hung
